Quick Facts:

Mohamed Amine Kalaï is a Tunisian qanun player and composer, born in Kairouan. Trained at the Regional Conservatory of Kairouan, he earned the National Diploma in Arabic Music (2009) and a qanun performance diploma (2011). Winner of several national prizes, including the Golden Rabeb Trophy (2013), he has performed at festivals in France, Germany, Hungary, Morocco, and Tunisia, and collaborated with ensembles such as the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra. His work bridges classical Arabic tradition, Ottoman and Andalusian heritage, and European classical music, while also embracing new compositions. In 2012, he published a collection of 57 Tunisian bachrafs, and his album Mukkadima combines traditional repertoire with original works.

Currently, he is developing diverse projects: a classical Arabic music ensemble with oud and ney, a keyboard-based exploration of European and Ottoman repertoire, and a duo with guitarist focusing on Romantic music and contemporary creations. Alongside his artistic career, he also holds a medical degree (MD), reflecting his multifaceted approach to culture and knowledge.
