Currently working on:

Mboko Lopiki is working on a new solo dance project titled THE PARANOID MAN about the problems that affect our communities, i.e. social injustices, human trafficking and racial inequalities. The piece is a fusion of contemporary dance and live music.

Quick Facts:

Mboko Lopiki (1997*) is a dance artist from Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He began his dance career as a member of the Hip Hop dance collective “Spirit of the Dance”. In 2015, he initiated the “Maendeleo Dance Project” which provided workshops that aimed for the supervision and reintegration of street children into society. Further driven by the desire and passion to learn different forms of contemporary dance, Mboko then joined the “Inuka Dance Company” in 2016 and trained under the Busara Dance Company. He is currently the choreographer, artistic director, and dancer-performer of the “Heartist Dance Company” in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is a recipient of the Prince Claus Fonds Seed Award 2022.
