Residency #8: B-Sides Festival

Four-week residency at Neubad Lucerne as part of the B-Sides Festival 2027, for artists with migration experience in Switzerland who are working on a project centred around music.

B-Sides Festival was founded in 2006 and takes place annually on Sonnenberg above Lucerne. It is considered an important platform in Switzerland for contemporary music far from the mainstream. With its focus on new, courageous and independent positions, B-Sides has established itself as a festival for discovering new artists and artistic positions. The festival combines music with interdisciplinary, experimental and socially relevant formats.

Since 2013, Neubad Luzern has been an interdisciplinary cultural and working space in a former indoor swimming pool and brings together music, performance, visual arts, literature, film and social debates. With an apartment and the Klub, the residency offers space for artistic development, rehearsals and performances. Through its infrastructure and openness, it offers ideal conditions for residencies, artistic development and production.

YOUR PROFILE

The residency is open to up to two artists with migration experience who are able to work independently and are working on a project centred around music. It provides an opportunity to further develop the project, with the aim of presenting it at B-Sides Festival 2027. Artists working across all music genres are welcome to apply.

Please note that basic knowledge of English or German is mandatory for all applicants.

    Residency duration: 31 May-27 June 2027 (B-Sides Festival 17-19 June 2027)

    What we offer: The residency offers space for focused artistic work, experimentation and rehearsals. In addition to accommodation in the Neubad apartment, residents will have access to a range of spaces, including the Neubad Klub and the Producing Room at Treibhaus. The residency also provides opportunities to connect with the artistic scene in Lucerne, as well as with networks across Switzerland and internationally.

    Costs covered: The costs for accommodation, per diems, travel to and from the residency within Switzerland and the fee for the performance at B-Sides Festival are covered. In addition, a 20% discount card for consumption at the Neubad Bistro will be provided. The artists will also receive access to all 3 festival days and to all in-house events organised by Neubad.

    Accommodation: Neubad Luzern, Bireggstrasse 36, 6003 Luzern - The apartment has 3 double rooms and one shared room, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen and a living area. It is possible that the available rooms are occasionally occupied by other artists performing at Neubad or at B-Sides Festival. In this case, the bathrooms, kitchen and living area would be shared.

    Conditions: The performance as part of B-Sides Festival 2027 is a mandatory component. Neubad also wishes to have a point of contact with the Neubad cosmos during the residency in the form of a workshop, showing or similar.
